Remove old sprinkler head

I have an old brass orbit head that just won't budge. I'm a knew homeowner but I'm guessing its been on for 20-30 years on a system that's probably 50'years old. I've given as much force as I can but no luck. And suggestions?

Thanks!

I just spray the item with WD-40. It seems to help a lot. Let it soak in.
They do sell a bolt loosener but I don't know if it'll work any better. I've never used it.

You might want to use pipe wrench with a breaker bar to unscrew the head.

Just be careful to not snap the old metal riser off. Maybe hold it with another pipe wrench if you have room.

You can dig down to the line it's attached to and cut either side of it, patch in new fittings and then put in a new head in.
