New Rain Bird 1800s not retracting all the way
I have 3 new Rain Bird 1804's that stay up about a 1/2 inch after each use. Does anybody know why this is happening?
Maybe they're binding at the point where the nozzle attaches. Are the heads at or slightly above grade? (no dirt or sand at the seal, to cause binding)
The are slightly above grade. If they are binding, what should I do?
I should also mention that I just put the sprinklers in and the 3 stay up just about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch after running sprinklers at times. It seems odd that they would have grit already. Could it be a water pressure issue?
Water pressure holds them up when it's flowing, but the internal spring is what drives them down after the flow stops. Take the heads apart and check the spring and internal stem for dirt and debris. Also check the inside of the bottom of the body for rocks or dirt that might be holding them up.
