Imperial Valet 11 station controller

A friend that I am trying to help has an OLD imperial valet controller with an intake in the lake. when a zone is turned on the I get 24 volts on the common and m terminals, and in about 3-4 seconds the reset button trips. It does this on each zone. Can start the pump at the lake by pressing in the contacts on the pump. Worked fine when winterized. What would cause the reset button to trip? System is probably over 20 years old and probably has the brass valves.

Could be the pump relay is presenting an overload to the controller.
