rainbird SST Smart Series weather sensor not working

The weather sensor for my Rain Bird SST Smart Series doesn't work. It worked for about a month.It prevents the scheduled irrigation even through it has had plenty of time between getting rained on (weeks).
I have trying reseting the Controller & unplugging the sensor but it still doesn't work. There doesn't appear to be a replacement sensor from RainBird. I think the weather sensor also includes a temperature measurement. Will the RSD-BEX work as a replacement sensor?
