basic system

I am planting rows of trees for bonsai. 50 rows of 20 trees all about 2-3 feet apart. they all have the same watering requirements. can I just use drip line with 2'+ spacing without inserts for the laterals?

You will have to support such a drip line with a support between each plant, so the above-grade tubing can sag in such a way that the dripping occurs exactly where you want it. It might just be easier to do a conventional layout with emitters and spaghetti tubing.
