Sprinkler heads won't retract

Some pop-up sprinkler heads stuck and stay exposed after watering. Need to push them back down. They are TORO 570 Series, 3 inches. Do I need new heads or retracting springs, or can I just lubricate them?

If they are fairly new within warranty I would have Toro replace them, If they are not , do not replace with Toro. Rainbird or Hunter sprays!

Thanks. I think the brands you recommend are better. I had Rainbird before and it never gave me this problem. I inherit the Toro from the previous owner of the house which I just bought recently.

The most likely cause of your problem is sand in teh gasket that surrounds the shaft. While teh system is running you can actuate the head by pushing down on it with your foot several times. Be careful to push straight down. This should flush out the sand. Toro sprinkler are just as good as the others.

Spray some wd-40 on the neck og the heads then tap them down , then run it and see what happens if some still stay up spray again.
