Maybe one of the wires is a spare. Could be white white. Black white or black and the other white.

The way you hooked it up made total sense but it's not working so try the other ways.

Dog ate my valve

I have a irrigation system with the valves buried in the ground. I have a new puppy that dug up the box an ate the wiring from the valve. Before he did this, the sprinkler worked fine. I replaced the valve, but do not know how to connect it.
I have two wires from the valve, a black wire in the ground that is not connect to anything, two white wires that are connected to each other, and a 7 strand wire that run thru the area but does not connect to anything. When I turn on the sprinkler, zone 1 starts but only a sprinkler head, and its very low amount of water. I checked the water pressure and its fine. I think its a wiring issue, but not sure how to wire it. I connect 1 wire from the valve to the white wires and 1 wire from the valve to the black wire. No luck.
Any thoughts?
