Nope a thumping water meter is not normal. I'd call the city. Where I live they'll come out for free. Here's the bonus of that. If it turns out the water meter is fine. They'll probably diagnose the problem for you. Also where I live, they'll replace a bad meter for free.

Let me get this straight. A thumping water meter is not normal and my city water company will come out and replace it after I call them and complain?

I was just wodering if it is normal for my water meter to be thumping while sprinklers are running? Is there any solution to fix this issue?
