Scott, It sounds like you may have black poly pipe as your piping with a hole in it. If so, turn off the water to the pipe, cut the pipe in half at the hole. Use an insert coupling to connect the pipe back together. Here is a link to our insert couplings page: http://www.sprinklerwarehouse.com/shop3/MiscFittingsPoly_FittingsCouplings.html If you have white PVC piping use a quik-fix to repair the pipe. It sounds like you have a bad diaphram. If you are haveing problems with a valve, I suggest you replace the entire valve and not just pieces of the valve.
Orbit is clearly of less quality! Save yourself the troubles associated with consumer grade sprinkler products, only consider the Preofessional series or Commercial grade products made by namebrand companies such as Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Irritrol. Professional series or Commercial grade products are made of higher quality and are easier to adjust. All the product found on www.sprinklerwarehouse.com are of Professional or Commercial grade.
Rotor head work best at 50 psi at the head. Spray heads are designed to function best at 30 psi Most Rotor heads used for watering homes can throw 25 to 40 feet (radius). Spray heads can throw water a maximum distance of 18 feet (radius). Impart rotors can work better at lower pressures than the normal close case gear driven rotors. The Rain Bir4d R-50 works better than any other rotor at low pressures. Having the valve at a slightly higher elevation does not give you enough pressure increase to...
The side strip nozzle should be placed at the edge of the area you are trying to water. The center strip nozzle should be placed in the center as you have suggested. <b>Side Strip Pattern</b> <img src="http://www.sprinklerwarehouse.com/forum/15sst.gif" border=0> <b>Center Strip Pattern</b> <img src="http://www.sprinklerwarehouse.com/forum/cst.gif" border=0>
You should use 18 or 16 guage wire that is designed for direct burial so that you will not be degraded by the harsh outside elements.
I firmly agree with purchasing a Rain Bird, Hunter, or Irritrol controller over other brands. You should also make sure you are looking at the professional series or commercial grade controllers and NOT the consumer grade controllers found in most home improvement stores. There is a significant difference in ease of use, quality, and included features on the pro and commercial series controllers and consumer grade controllers. The controllers found on SprinklerWarehouse.com are all professional ...
<b>Timing is everything.</b> <img src="http://www.sprinklerwarehouse.com/forum/seasonal_grubs_chart.jpg" border=0> Grub worms are as ugly as the damage they cause. These pests are so sneaky it is often difficult to even know they are doing damage until it is too late. Worse yet, they usually pick the lushest lawns to feast on. <img src="http://www.sprinklerwarehouse.com/forum/white_grub.gif" border=0> <img src="http://www.sprinklerwarehouse.com/forum/Japanese_beetle.gif" border=0> Grub worms are...
Rain Bird always assumes you are going to use residential grade (home improvement store) sprinkler parts so they provide the item numbers for such. We sale the same items only in professional series or commercial grade quality just like a professional contractor would install in your yard. The quality difference is significant but we sell the items to you at a cost at or below what you would expect to pay for the residential grade products! The answer to your question is the following valves are...
We only sell the complete valves and not parts since it is better to buy the valve and take the top off the new valve and replace the old valve top. Plus a new valve is cheaper than if you buy the parts separately. This way you will end up with a new diaphram, solenoid, and internal filters. You will have a new valve since the bottom body piece is only a PVC base and does not go bad. The trick is you must use the exact model valve as the old valve. If you can not find the same valve (if yours is...
Any of the brand rain shut off devices will work with any brand controller. The rain shutoff device splices into the ground wire as it comes to the controller and when it rains the device acts like it is cutting the ground wire and then as it dries out it reconnects the ground wire. Here is the link to a page on SprinklerWarehouse.com where the instructions for all the various brand Rain Shutoff devices are located: http://www.sprinklerwarehouse.com/manuals/Sensor_Manuals.shtml#RainBird Here is ...
Todd, You install the EZ-Green unit after the pump outlet and after the backflow prevention device (if you have one) but before the mainline splits up top feed the zone valves. You install a tee in the mainline to allow a 1/2" line to feed the top of the EZ-Green unit. Another 1/2" line comes out of the bottom of the EZ-Green unit and feed back into the mainline just past where you put the first tee. Therefore you install two tees in the mainline altogether which provides a slip stream of the wa...

Yes you can install a sprinkler system which will be supplied by well water. You must know two things about the well pump: 1. You must know how much water the pump supplies (gpm) 2. You must know thee water pressure at the outlet of the pump Here is an excellent link to information about pumps: http://www.jessstryker.com/pump.htm Once you know these two things you design the sprinkler system so that you do not exceed these limitations on any zone in the sprinkler system. Please read the followin...

Use PVC pipe, Tees and Elbows as needed to construct a manifold where you want to install more than one valve. This method of "hard piping" the valves in using glue will eliminate the possibility of leaks.
It is best to convert from copper pipe to PVC pipe once you leave the house and head outside. PVC pipe is easier to use and handle. PVC pipe is also much easier to repair in the future if repair are needed. I high recommend you switch to PVC pipe. The master valve should just be installed in the water mainline after the backflow device but before any zone valve. The HPV valves with come with 1" female pipe thread inlet / outlet so you can screw a PVC male adapter into the valve and then glue the...
I would think that for most burps by the device the 5 gallon bucket would be alright, however, if the device ever malfunctioned, you could end up with a mess in the basement unless you somehow pipe the outlet of the RP device to drain outside or to a drain pipe. This safest thing to do if you are going to put the backflow prevention device in the basement, is to pipe the drain of the RP assembly to a drain pipe or outside or use a double check valve assembly as your backflow device. It never all...
