I found this thread very helpful:
Solenoid Making Clicking noise ,as it was my exact problem. I was going to reply there, but I couldn't, because "Attention: The last reply to this post was 1160 days ago. The thread may already be out of date. Please consider creating a
new thread."
After swapping modules, I thought I had a controller problem, since stations were "disappearing", but even this was a symptom of the bad PCM-300 module. Here's my full story:
My solenoids (Station 7 & 8 )were "clicking", and the valves were not opening, so I swapped the
last two PCM-300 modules with each other. The problem went away and all seemed to be working well.
I am using only using Station 12 on the third PCM-300.
Since I know I have some kind of a problem, either with the third module, or the third slot, I ordered another module. It's a good thing I did, as I noticed station 12 was not coming on anymore. I also noticed that when I tried to run 12 manually, that stations 10, 11 and 12 "disappeared " from the controller (a Hunter Proc C). If I pulled the 3rd module out, and put it back in, 10/11/12 were back, but would later disappear again. Station 12 is used for a water feature, so being without is no big deal, short term.
New module arrived, and it, and the system, are working fine.
So I just wanted to say thank you and I hope my experience may help others.
Sincerely, Eric
PS. I do have a valve on station 9, but do not use it all the time. Only manually when needed.
Edit: Well this post did add to the old thread. Obviously I don't know this board very well.
