Wilkins 420 spewing water sometimes

I just installed a sprinkler system on a 1 acre lot. I have a Wilkins 420 PVB and when the system runs every once in a while, the PVB starts spewing water. If I turn off the inlet to the PVB and turn it back on, it usually stops and the sprinkler system runs. This does not always happen on the same zone. I bought this PVB off of Ebay. Maybe I got a damaged PVB?? Any ideas?
