*** Sprinker Zone 3 Will NOT Shut off ***

I have a Rain Bird SST-400i and my sprinkers in Zone 3 won't shut off.

I followed the instuctions at http://www.rainbird.com/documents/diy/ValveInstallTips.pdf and I am stuck on step 4:

1) Put timer in auto/off (Rain Shutoff) mode. If watering continues. . .
2) Unplug timer. If this stops the watering, the problem is probably in the timer. If watering continues. . .
3) Turn flow control knob (if there is one) to lowest flow position. If this does not shut off the flow completely. . .
4) Turn gray flow control ring on valve clockwise until resistance is felt. This is the lowest flow position. If more than one valve is affected or if turning the flow control does not shut off the flow completely...
5) Turn off manual main shut off valve to sprinkler system

Where is the flow control ring and the manual main shut off value? See pictures at http://goo.gl/R9XuFw

Please help.

Since you don't have the make and model of zone valves with a grey flow-control ring, the #4 instruction does not apply.

You have a photo of a gas meter in the assortment. You need to find the water meter.

I turned the black valve (the black knob in http://www.screencast.com/users/dm2000/folders/Home%20Stuff%20-%20Sprinkers/media/d838d32f-a09a-4d5a-a50c-262188d90435 ) so water doesn't come out, but when I turn the valve on again the water keeps coming out even when the sprinkler system has no power. What should I do?

It doesn't sound like a controller issue. To me it sounds like a faulty valve.

Maybe a pice of rock or PVC stuck holding the diaphragm in the open position. That is why it continues to run even when the controller is unplugged.

Sorry, my reply seems to have vanished. You may be able to 'fix' this with as little as a pair of pliers. The pliers take the place of the missing flow control knobs on the outside valves. Alternatively, you might wiggle off the flow-control knob from the inside valve and fit it to the stems of the outdoor valves and dial down the valves.

The outdoor valve flow controls are best turned down, to a point just short of affecting the flow. That alone may be all that's required to remedy the situation.
