Zone is always on unless the zone is set to "on" at the controller?

I am so confused. ?( I replaced one of the sprinkler valves with a new solenoid. The issue now is the zone is always ON. But, if the timer turns the zone ON the water shuts off. Seems like it is operating in reverse! I switched the wires to another zone just to see if that channel is bad, but get the same results. Of course I have to manually shut the valve off till I find out what is wrong. Any help would be great.

DC latching solenoids do that. Are you working with a battery operated valve? If so, take the solenoid back off. Reverse the plunger. If it's pushed in, pull it out. If it's out, push it in. See if that helps.

I came back to say, make sure the solenoid plunger is pulled out. That's the off position. Then screw the solenoid back on.
