Hunter Pro-C controller and pump start relay

My Hunter Pro-C controller and submersible well pump have been in good operation for about six years. Recently had heavy thunderstorms in the area while we were absent and upon returning found the pump running continuously despite Controller showing the system OFF. Unplugged the ac 120/24 adapter and pump stopped. Opened Pump start relay (PSR) and no sign of arcing or burns - electromechanical relay popped open when 24vac removed but as soon as reconnected to controller and adapter plugged in - pump runs despite controller in the system OFF position. Checked controller output for PSR and found 24vac in either pump ON or OFF position. Suspicion is that the ON/OFF digital circuit is nonfunctioning to control 24vac out to the PSR regardless of the controller indication of ON/OFF.

Intend to order new module for Controller that controls PSR but would like recommendations or other troubleshooting tips.

As long as you have pump protection of some sort in place, you should be good to go with the new control module.
