One zone doesn't work

I have Nelson system where 1 zone doesn't work. I am a complete novice, but from reading here it would appear to be a valve, however there are a couple of other problems which complicate this. a) The "battery" light continues to flash despite changing batteries, and the system will not run the "syringe" or test mode. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know where I can find parts for the Nelson system. Thanks.
