Lost water pressure

Our sprinkler system uses lake for it's water supply. The lake has gone down so far that we have extended our suction pipe over 100 ft. to reach the water. Is this the reason we've lost pressure to our sprinker heads? We were able to run 6-7 heads at a time, now we are only able to run (3) heads at a time. Thanks for your input.

could be. Does the intake have a filter? What size pipe is your intake?
Thanks,

Friction losses in a suction pipe will greatly reduce pump output. You need to compare the original suction line to the longer line, using a friction loss table. If the original suction line was, say, twenty feet long, and an inch-and-a-quarter in diameter, the newer hundred-and-twenty-foot suction line would probably need to be a two-inch diameter pipe, to give you equivalent performance. If you can switch the nozzles in the sprinkler heads, you might regain the original coverage. You'll have to run the system longer, but if you have the time, the lawn won't know the difference.

The complete system is 2" pvc and a filter is installed. Thank you for you response to my question.
