Sprinkler Problem

Have a Hydrotek (Model 1120) sprinkler system. We cut one pipe and capped it off because we're getting ready to put in a patio and won't need to water a patio. We then turned on the sprinkler system & it worked normally moving from zone to zone UNTIL -- I'm guessing here __ it got to the line we capped off?? ...Now when we turn it on the motor runs but it isn't watering anywhere -- it's as if it isn't able to 'swtich over' to the next zone? No idea what to do .......appreciate any & all help. P.S. Have a pic of control panel if that would be helpful but I have no clue how to post it.

If your sprinkler system uses an "indexing valve", you cannot cap off any lines, as the flow of water is needed to index the valve.

If you do, in fact, have an indexing valve, establish whether or not it's a gear system (WateRotor)or pressurized disk (Fimco.) If it's a waterotor, then you'd best upgrade (Google Fimco valve)and find the best valve (3 or 5 zones) for YOUR application. Unlike the Pinnacle WaterRotor which uses as constant flow of water to advance to each successive station using about 30 gallons of water, the fimco advances by starting and stopping each zone with at least a minute between zones. You MAY have to purchase a new clock as each station/zone needs it's own start time w/Fimco valves. Most 2-3 program clocks with 3 start times will do the job with a bit of creative programming. Fimco also sells it's own breed of controller for the Fimco Valves. It's really quite a good system. Only one electrical valve is needed per indexer.
