sprinkler system not working

System has pressure. When opened up water pressure depletes rapidly. No zones even have the heads pop up. There is a hose bib on the main valve of sprinkler system and that puts out water, but not at a good rate. I have had 2 repairmen to look at it and they are stumped. Could the well not be regenerating? Could there be a leak under ground between zones/valve boxes? When the valve inside the house is shut off, we have never had any loss of pressure, or water. When the system was operating we could only run it for 45 minutes because the pressure would be depleted. According to the well guy, the system showed 12gal/min and should regenerate at 40 psi. It normally is around 50-55. Help!

Ask the well guy what the steady-state performance is. A well that regenerates slowly (this refill-rate is a number you should know) may have to operate for a while, then rest for awhile.
