Bought a house, need help.

I recently bought a house that has a sprinkler system. The problem is that it hasn't been used in a while...how long, I don't know. There are no sprinkler heads anywhere so I assume they have been broken off. Running new sprinkler lines is no problem. When I turned on the motor it seemed to trip off on internal overloads after a few seconds.

Now, I don't want to buy a new motor if the well may not be any good (collapsed, etc.). So what is my first step?

Any help is appreciated.

Get a pro in for a few hours to diagnose this for you..

There are simply too many variables to do a 100 step by step walk through online with you.
