Mesh Irrigation Filter

I am looking to install a Orbit 32 mesh irrigation filter with my sprinkler system. My mail water line is 1" and the mesh irrigation filter has in an outlet of 2.5". I am looking to connect from my main line into the 2.5" mesh irrigation filter. Will i be ok goig from 1" to 2.5", will i encounter any issues?

32 mesh isn't what is recommended for sprinkler systems - what is being filtered out of the water?

32 mesh screen is all my local store has. I am assuming that i would need a 60-100 mesh instead. To answer you question it would be used to filter out sand, i get basic irrigation water.

another question if you don't mind. It's just a basic connection right? I would connect the filter from my main line then out to my valves right?

Just a connection - you do have to (roughly) match the filter size with the water flow, to get the best results from any filter that swirls the water past the filter screen. Look for a 100-mesh filter, to work with a sprinkler system.

If your water is that dirty... you might want to look into auto flush filters.

32 Mesh not ideal for this project

Search the net for some more sources for this wire mesh material.

You cannot simply take the 32 mesh just because it is the only thing that the store has, look some place like this for a mesh specialist:

http://www.bwire.com/

Or try Mcmaster Carr, Home Depot, Lowes.

In the long run, you are not really doing yourself any favors by just taking the first mesh you see.
