Adding a Drip System
We recently remodeled and added a deck off the 2nd story addition. Can I add a drip system to an existing zone to take care of and plants I may have up there. Adding another zone is possible but not something I want to tackle at this time.
you can extend a current zone if it is drip but you shoud not extend a zone if it spray or rotors
Thanks,
Pete
you can extend a drip system...however if the deck area is pots and hanging plants.....it will not work properly. The drip system for pots/hanging plants should run much shorter times than plants in the actual ground...therefore, if combined you will have either way too much water on your deck or if you adjust to lower times, not enough water to your regular plants.
best thing would be to put in a new system for just the deck. That will of course cause other issues such as:
Not enough pressure to push the water that high in the air?
Not enough emitters operating for the valve to shut off reliably...
good luck

If you come off an existing zone make sure to use the smaller emitters. You could probably get away with 1 gallon emitters. Of course it depends on how long and how often this zone is on. It's is better to have a separate zone but if there are only a couple of plants it really isn't worth it.

its definatly better to have separate zones for the drip...for obvious reasons stated above.
